A Tree Grows in Brooklyn

Updated: Oct 14, 2021

Just finished reading A Tree Grows in Brooklyn By Betty Smith, and it is most definitely the best book I have ever read! It is at times sad, heartwarming, and bittersweet. This story is beautifully written and was hard to part with. I keep searching, but I can not find any book like it! Thank you to my cousin in-law Rachel for giving it to me for my thirteenth B-day!

So glad you enjoyed it Misha!! I definitely love getting immersed in that 20th century world, with all of these complex and wonderful characters.

Here are some books that have reminded me of A Tree Grows In Brooklyn:

- Joy in the Morning - Betty Smith

- Maggie-Now - Betty Smith

- Angela's Ashes - Frank McCourt

All of them happen to be about Irish-Americans growing up in the early 20th century :-)
